Captain America:Civil War-Movie Talk.

Lets talk about Captain America: Civil War today.

2

Yesterday, I got to watch Captain America: Civil War, which as a huge Marvel Universe fan I’d been looking forward to since months. And, the verdict? It lived up to all the anticipation and was so much more.

First, I’ll attempt to give a completely spoiler free comprehensive review for those of us who haven’t watched the movie yet. And then, we’ll launch into a full fledged spoiler infused discussion or as I would like to call it, a Movie Talk on it.

The plot summary is that, due to the loss of innocent lives in past Avengers’ missions brought to fore by a recent one the governments of the world want to install a system of accountability and certain control over the collateral damage the Avengers cause. This proposal ends up dividing the Avengers with Captain America and a few others of the belief that superheroes should remain free to defend the people without the government’s interference and Iron Man and a few others believing that a system of check is quite necessary and is a good idea. This debate is soon a feud and escalates into a fight bigger than the like of which the Avengers have ever seen before because this time, they’re fighting themselves.

My rating: 4.5/5 stars

What you should know: Look forward to some great superhero action, amazing superhero introductions and brilliant characterisation. Oh, and there’s two after the credits scenes.

captain-america-civil-war-16-scale-collectible-figure-antman-467723.1

Final Remark: Definitely watch it, unless hard-core action is not your thing.

This is your cue to leave if you haven’t seen the movie yet. Watch it, come back and read the rest.(Unless you like spoilers, in which case, please enjoy your stay.)

WARNING: Spoiler-full Movie Talk ahead. Proceed with caution.

Now, lets talk about what actually happens in the movie. The leading up to the fight, the characters , the action and the final showdown was so wonderfully out of this world, I can’t even begin to describe it. If you’ve watched it, you know exactly what I’m talking about.

The new characters, Black Panther, Ant Man, Spider Man and even Vision(Though not new but relatively unknown.) were nailing it. Especially Spidey. His fight sequence was so true to the comics and so funny and similarly Antman was such a big(Do you see what I did there? Do you?) surprise trapped in a tiny little body. Black Panther’s introduction was amazing and his character development, perfect.

imagesN1IUGDOR

I felt Iron Man’s pain and my heart broke especially at the “So was I”.(And the shield drop.)I felt the injustice at Bucky’s framing and could feel Captain’s thought process.Peggy’s funeral was a nice addition and added to Captain’s character hugely. I loved Black Widow’s action sequences and the moment she asked Hawkeye, ” So, wait are we still friends?” and he replied with “Depends on how hard you hit me.” I loved the sequences with Vision and Wanda and the character development they got. Rhodey  , that poor guy. That hugely looked forward to and very anticipated airport fight sequence was just everything Marvel stands for.

On a concluding note, that uncharacteristically attractive and un-Aunt like Aunt May though. This movie was a new achievement for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and you can see how it was majorly built up for, over the years. I can’t wait for Avengers: Infinity War now.

Why Do I Write?

Lets talk about why I write today.

In my previous post I  talked about my school’s camp and a ‘Personality Pageant’ I participated in there. For better insight into today’s post you can check that post out here.

In the question-answer round of the Personality Pageant, I was asked several questions whilst on stage. Most had to do with this blog, writing and reading. One of them, which completely shook me up for a minute there was such a seemingly obvious, easy yet such a profound ,delving-into-my-very soul kind of question. That very simple question asked by one of the judges was, “Why do you write?”

Now, why do I write? It’s not like it’s as essential to me as breathing or I have a message to deliver to the world. Nor do I have that interesting a life nor extraordinary experiences to talk about.I’m as normal as it gets and my life is very usual and perfectly ordinary. Then , the question again is, why do I write?

The first thing that came in my head when I heard that question was a glimpse from my childhood, when I was 9-10 years old and the biggest tragedy  for me was my best friend revealing my very very confidential ‘secret’ to someone else. I remembered how when tragedy struck,  I had, feeling utter betrayal, after tearing up in front of my mother, grabbed a sheet of paper, a pencil and wrote about the incident, how I felt, the sadness and the trauma I was feeling. And, I remember feeling so so much better. Then, It became a practise, good days I wrote about in my journal, bad days I let out my emotions on a sheet of paper, crumpled it up and threw it away. Writing was and remains my therapy, words my solace and pen and paper my best friends.

I wrote because it made me happy, it made me feel better and it made me, as a person, better. I have always been quite a chatterbox and my friends honestly(Not without proof) believe that I can talk about anything and everything for hours. Writing gave me a medium to express all my thoughts and opinions in another manner, like dancing, singing (To myself), drawing and other things have been for me always. It was fuel and motivation for the creativity in me, which in all honesty, is one of the things I value in others and myself the most. Put creativity, imagination and  crazy ideas all together and you’re already my best friend.

I  realised I write because I find expressing myself as essential as breathing and wish to leave a message for the world, something which I learn over my lifetime and leave for the future generations.I wish to have a life interesting enough to write about and have extraordinary experiences. I write because I wish to be something beyond the usual ,something more than perfectly ordinary.

With all this running in my head in a fraction of seconds, I heard myself saying,” I write to, in simple words, express myself. I consider myself a creative person with a lot of thoughts, opinions and emotions, expressing which is imperative for me. Therefore, writing for me, is one of my favourite mediums to speak my heart out, express my creativity and offer a little piece of myself to the world.”

School Camp!

Lets talk about winning, losing and my school camp today.

Yesterday , I came back from my school’s camp. These few days were filled with dancing, singing, new experiences, wins, losses ,games, crazy late night fun, swimming, travel, dress up, oration, great food, a beautiful location, life lessons and so much more. Today, though we’re only talking about a few of the many things that I did and that happened over the course of these days that have actually changed me, some way or the other.

Over the course of the camp, I’ve learnt to be thankful, to tell people when I find something about them good, talk to various kinds of people, gained significant insight into my own gender(This is an achievement for a girl who has been borderline tomboyish all her life), sang solo for the first time(It went disastrously and I was practically shaking because it was suddenly sprung on me but made a good experience nonetheless),won a few prizes, lost some competitions, won a major prize(Which I’ll talk about in detail for the rest of the post) and made so many new friends and acquaintances.(From my own school and others)

The aforementioned major prize was won in what has been a tradition in the school, something called a ‘Personality Pageant.’ It is a contest with many rounds including but not limited to, the first interview, an introduction round where you do a catwalk and can feel all model-like and  then introduce yourself to the judges and answer one common question, a talent round(Where I did a little impromptu jig) and a long gruelling one-on-one question answer round.

In the introduction round, our question was ” Where do you see yourself in the next 5-7 years and what have you done about it? “My answer was about how much I love writing, expressing myself, doing creative things and want to see myself somewhere in that field and as to what I’ve done for it, I talked about this blog. In my Q and A round I was mostly asked about the blog and writing and my round was (Or maybe so I felt) the longest. I’ve always been a whimsical(Aha!) person, so I was honest and quick and  would say what I actually wanted to say in all my answers with a smile and the judges actually stopped questioning me in between and had a 2 minute discussion before speaking with me again. They seemed quite happy and told me how glad they were to see how passionate I was about what I did and  even told me they look forward to my next blog post.

In the end, I was runner’s up among 800 girls from 12 schools. I won a lot of prizes for this,  one for a improv prop dance I’d done before, group prizes for the school and the overall Champions prize at the camp.(Yes, we did dance on the Champion song afterwards.) I was stunned to find that in all honesty, I was beyond elated at winning and didn’t care that I’d lost to one person, or lost any other competition(Like the solo singing) for the matter. I was happy, I had learnt a lot and the pageant was, for obvious reasons, my favourite part of the camp.

IMG_20160424_211127
The trophy!

I got a wonderful batch of memories to take home, life lessons and experiences the like of which I’ll probably never have again.Who, in the right mind would call this losing? What, to one person? What is one prize extra compared to all that I’ve gained? This is winning in its best form, winning at making the best of the life we’ve got and living it to the fullest. And that, all it takes to be a winner is for you to feel like one, is the best lesson I’ve learnt at camp.

The Beginner’s Guide To Understanding Fangirls.(2)

LEARNING THEIR LANGUAGE
Let’s talk about the language the fanboys and fangirls speak today.
For the previous post in the series, click here.

It is believed that speech was created for man’s need to socialise.Fangirls, though they may seem like aliens are humans too and hence the first step in socialising with a fangirl/fanboy is learning to talk his/her language. This segment of this series is aimed at exactly that.Today we will be decoding and translating the quirks in the language of a fangirl or fanboy.
Here are some of the more common features of a fangirl’s language.
1. Speaking what may seem like gibberish.
Ever heard or received text looking like, asdfghjkl or qwertyggyuj or another random collection of letters?
This comes under very normal fangirl speak and simply means that the fangirl/fanboy is simply undergoing too many emotions and simply not in the position to think coherently and type actual words. Usually an appropriate response would be to aassdfsgsjdkdld back at them and be happy with them ,because after all what do you lose being happy?

2ec5c7ef76bae5b99d6fe3749fa540ef
2.Using words which seem to imply something completely different or are unheard to you before.
Some of the countless such words are defined below.

  • Fandom : Shortened form of fanatic domain, fandom is used to refer to the fans of a particular person, team, fictional series, etc. regarded collectively as a community or subculture. So, if you and me like Harry Potter books we’re both in the Harry Potter fandom.
  • Ship : Originated from the word relationship it can have both noun and verb uses.     N: Short for romantic relationship, popularized by members of a fandom.
V: To endorse a romantic relationship. So, if I consider Hermoine Granger and Ronald Weasley to be perfect for each other I ship them and they are my ship.
  • OTP: Short for one true pairing, this is used to refer to the ultimate character combination you endorse, your THE ship. So, if I ship Hermoine Granger and Ronald Weasley and consider them to be my ultimate ship, they’re my OTP.
  • Canon: Another word for official. Basically, what is true in the book series ,movie etc. is said to be canon. So, if I’ve been shipping Hermoine Granger and Ronald Weasley since Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire itself and they finally end up together, their ship is canon.
  •  Feels: A wave of emotions that sometimes(read mostly) cannot be adequately explained. So, If I get teary and nostalgic and happy and a lot of other things reading Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, it is giving me the feels.
3.Speaking incomplete grammatically and often, factually incorrect phrases (usually accompanied with a shriek or two)
Some of these phrases are given below:
  • I’m dead/dying/dead/I died :The state of being attacked by so many feels and being  not able to say much (Around asdfghjkl phase) where you feel simply so (usually) elated or sad that you feel as though death has descended upon you.
  • Right in the feels: The moment when some particular thing gives you such a severe case of feels all of a sudden, it is said to have hit you right in the feels.
  • I can’t even: Used on blogging sites, mostly Tumblr, is an expression that denotes so many emotional responses that the fangirl/fanboy can’t even comprehend what has been said or seen.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of fangirl speak. Upcoming will be sections on fanfiction, erratic emotions and more, that will also be enhancing your pre-learnt fangirl language.
Stay tuned and embrace your inner fangirl(or fanboy)!

The Best Rainbows Ever!

Lets talk about the time I saw two rainbows together and one of them was round.

Rainbows are, to put it in one word, fascinating. A break from the usual monotony of blue in the day and dark in the night, a whole spectrum of 7 colours  to observe, these days they’ve become a rather rare phenomenon. I have,in my life seen a total of 7 rainbows, three slightly visible ones,2 huge ones over the city and 2 together in the midst of snow capped hills and brown mountains, next to the sparkling blue waters of a lake and one of them was round. It is definitely the best one I’ve ever seen and currently also the most recent.

In the summer of last year, my family and I went to Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, India for a trip. I saw many wondrous and exotic things there but today, I limit myself to the coloured wonders, the two rainbows. We went to Pengong Lake, the world’s highest saltwater lake situated at 14,000 ft. above the mean sea level and were going to spend the night there, at a camp. We went through an absolutely breathtaking road, covered and surrounded almost wholly with and by snow. Eventually, from the distance we saw Pengong Lake, its blue waters glittering in between the mountains, a jewel in the cold desert.

The first glimpse of the lake.

Believed to be what remains of the Tethys sea today, this beautiful blue saltwater lake was extremely enchanting, a marvel for the human race, who’ve come so far and yet are nullifying their effects by a tenfold. We had fun on the lakeside, enjoyed the view and admired the water birds who made crow like sounds(I haven’t been able to find their names out) and retired to the camp. The next morning, we went to the lakeside again and saw, to our wonder, two rainbows in the sky. One was fainter and the other, around the sun, like a ring. It was absolutely picturesque. The water too, was a different shade of blue that it was last evening. In that moment, I knew that if heaven existed, it had to be right here, right now in this place that fills me up with so much peace and happiness in amounts I thought I wasn’t capable of feeling.

I tried to capture the halo that is, the round rainbow (As I later found it is called) but couldn’t, due to the fact that I didn’t have the appropriate camera lenses. I read up on halos, much afterward and this is what they’re defined to be:”A halo, also known as a nimbus, ice bow or gloriole is an optical phenomenon produced by light interacting with ice crystals suspended in the atmosphere, resulting in a wide variety of coloured or white rings, arcs or spots in the sky. Many halos are near the sun or moon but others can even occur elsewhere in the sky.”

The best possible capture, which doesn’t even begin to show the actual beauty of the halo.

I feel glad, blessed and so lucky to have been able to behold this wonder of nature, this specimen of, or testament to its beauty, this captivating, alluring view. I would if given a chance, in a heartbeat go right back to Pengong Lake, the land of beauty and grace, where the gods descend and nature is having a celebration of life itself.

Surprise,Surprise.

Lets talk about surprises today.

Humans are vastly interesting and fairly amusing creatures. No other mammal, forget organism would like a surprise, being caught off guard, having something apart from normal happen to them. Their reaction would be the usual, fight or flight that they’re wired with since birth. Then why, we, the inhabitants of the same planet as them, love surprises, adore them and work so hard for them?

I had this question answered for me yesterday when my friends and family threw me a splendid and out-of-the-world surprise birthday party. The moment I entered home and they all yelled ‘Surprise!’ started a chain of emotions inside me, too many altogether, that I attempt to dissect today.

The first thing I did was put my hands to my face, the remnants of the fight or flight reaction, the sign of my ancestry. Then, I blinked and asked my mother, ‘Is this for real?’ that is  I was shocked, stunned. Once reassured, I laughed mostly out of happiness but also due to the traces of disbelief still remaining. Then, it hit me that all these people loved me enough to put so much time, energy and effort into me. At that point I hugged my sister, I was so elated. Then with a smile that just refused to leave my face simply due to the fact that I felt overwhelmed, loved and blessed I proceeded with the treasure hunt my friends set me to find my gifts.

It was a great hunt that led me to truly amazing and very thoughtful gifts and my happiness went up several notches. Through a video, a photo collage and two cakes (both of which are featured in the pictures below) I’d reached a level of delight beyond explaining.

Here’s a big thank you to all of them for making yesterday one of the best days of the life and making me turn 17 in style. This is also announcing that each and every one of you is awesome, in every sense of the word(Not as much as me, to say the truth) Thank you for making me feel so grateful, blessed and appreciated. This is also a thanks to everyone who wished me here on the blog and on my email, your wishes made my day much much more brighter.

Now, in all honesty, I, the person who always has too much to say, has no words to explain what I felt and continue to feel. This is a rare phenomena, so behold and congratulations!

In conclusion, to answer my first question, why do humans love surprises? Surprise someone you love and you’ll know inside, get surprised and you’ll realise.

Of Birthdays and Irony.

Lets talk about my birthday today.

I love birthdays. I like the fact that one day of the year is about just one person and appreciating them and their existence. I always try to make an extra effort for friends and family and even acquaintances who have birthdays just because its their day. I wish people about 10,000 times in the day, write them little notes and try and arrange a little gift for them. It makes me happy to make someone happy as like they say, happiness goes around and comes back multiplied manifold.

It is rather ironic then that my own birthday, the 10th of March every year that is, happens to be accursed with the curious curse of being during my exams every year, meaning, while I make a huge affair about other people’s birthdays they can’t return the favour so much, at least on the actual day. For the last 5 years I’ve had exams, major subjects, minor subjects always on or after my birthday. For the last 2,they’ve started exactly on my birthday. And this year, it only gets sadder for me(And funnier for you, on the outside.) as my exams start on the exact next day after my birthday and its a major subject. I don’t think I have actually had my birthday party on my birthday except my 13th birthday and that too was a small one celebrating my foray into teenage. My birthday celebrations are usually kept after the exams and therefore, are 10 days and even 20 days after my birthday.

IMG_20160308_223239_762

My parents, my family, makes a huge huge effort to make my day better (like the canopy of balloons last year in the picture) and loads of delicious food to cater to my food loving tendencies but you can only do so much. My friends have forgotten to (more than once) wish me Happy Birthday for an instant the morning of my birthday because they’re stressed and completely worried about the Math exam, like me. I stay up the night before the exam not in anticipation but up studying.

So, what I try to do is I try to be happy enough to feel glad myself, without celebration. Feel happy about existing and breathing and being healthy and living and blessed with so much in life. It makes up for the lack or rather the damping of the birthday spirit my exams so successfully accomplish.

So, here I am, turning 17 in 2 days, approximately.(Finally old enough to do magic in the wizarding world, yes!)As you might have gathered, I appreciate birthday wishes and love more than most people because of the unfortunate case with my birthdays. If you want to brighten up my day, just a little, on my birthday or talk to me in general whenever you want, you can wish me on my email which is written underneath. It would mean the world to me.

The Beginner’s Guide To Understanding Fangirls.(1)

8f9eac8bd5dc0254bf370053f3ccde41

Lets talk about fangirls(and fanboys)today.

We all know them. That one friend of ours who doesn’t believe in the concept of ‘liking’ things and is a perpetual ‘obsesser’. They speak a queer tongue, go from happy to sad in a nanosecond, let out screams and shrieks without warning, spend unhealthy amounts of time on the internet and completely befuddle the rest of us, the ‘normal’ human beings.I, as a representative of the aforementioned ‘species’ am happy to introduce this series aimed at understanding your friendly(They are, if you do it right)neighbourhood fangirl.

Fangirl,noun

[fan-gurl]

A rabid breed of human female who is obsessed with either a fictional character, book series, movie, band, singer or an actor or even, food. They are similar to the breed of fanboys. Fangirls congregate on the internet, in concerts, at conventions and at book stores.

ba18a11abf154fdad7d7ae2de2ff73c1

How to identify a fangirl?

Now that you know what a fangirl is, it’s time to apply that knowledge. The following are a few indicative factors to identify a fangirl :-

  1. Speaking in incomplete sentences(I can’t even) and using absurd words.(Ship.)
  2. Shrieking, screaming or crying incessantly, without warning and for no huge reason.
  3. Heavy and unhealthy usage of the internet.
  4. Them being too ‘busy ‘to go out while they are home doing seemingly nothing.
  5. Being slightly(varying amounts of slightly, that is) excited about most things.
  6. Staying up late at night to finish books.
  7. Their rooms being a shrine to their object of affection.(It’s a whole new world there.)
  8. Them being very attached to said shrines.
  9. Them owning clothing and accessories to do with their affections and obsessions.
Now that you know that the girl you thought was weird is a fangirl, your question obviously is, how do I understand her, get to know her and be social with her?
This is exactly what I aim to help you achieve through this series. Upcoming will be sections on understanding their language, how to deal with their erratic emotions and more.
Stay tuned and embrace your inner fangirl ( or fanboy)!

The Best First Time Parasailing!

Let’s talk about the first time I went parasailing.

I think everyone has dreamt of flying ; floating high up in the skies with the birds and up above the clouds.(Except maybe if you have a fear of heights) And we, human beings, happen to be such gifted and delightful creatures that we made aeroplanes and helicopters to achieve the same. We refuse to be satisfied by just sitting inside a machine and experiencing it, we keep trying to make it better and more real and thus we developed adventure sports like parasailing and paragliding. This is the one admirable quality about us, we want to make everything possible, the indomitable human spirit, just refuses to believe that impossible is a word.

We recently went to a quaint little coastal village in Maharashtra,India by the name of Shrivardhan .It was a beautiful, peaceful place right out of your imagination. The beaches there were so picturesque,so clean,so empty, so delightfully perfect the thalassophile in me was on cloud 9. Here, I had the wonderful opportunity to experience parasailing at the beach for the first time in my life. This was putting everything I love together; the beach, the ocean, the skies and the adventure, making it quite memorable.

It was an out of the world experience, so blissfully exhilarating! I could see the ocean extending indefinitely and kissing the skies at the horizon on one end and the coconut tree forest and the little village amidst the hills on one.I felt on top of the world(Literally!) and was humbled by the power and beauty of Mother nature, yet again.I’ve said this before about a sunrise I saw but this sentence of mine is the only way to express what I felt, yet again.”It made me feel so meaningless,so small,so powerless,I’d say it left a humbler person in its wake.”I felt that little mixture of emotions yet again, the one I’d felt at that point as I floated higher and higher, a mute observer to the glory of nature.

All pictures are clicked by me , are unedited and are of different beaches around the village.

Spirit Animal Award.

untitled

Lets talk about the Spirit Animal Award today.

Thank you, Irena S. for nominating me for the Spirit Animal Award. I am so very thankful and I really appreciate it, how nice of you to choose me!(Here is the original post.)

Here are the rules:

1.) Thank the blogger who nominated you, and link back to their page.

2.) Post the award picture on your blog.

3.) Write a short paragraph about yourself and what your blog means to you.

4.) If you could be any animal, what would it be?

5.) Pick and notify ten nominees.

ABOUT ME AND MY BLOG

It’s funny how I can talk about a million things and yet I had to sit and think about what to write about myself, the one thing I should be the most qualified to write about. For learning about me, you can go check my About page. As far as my blog is concerned, I started my blog on 7th February 2016,which is about 15 days ago. I am so thankful for the kind of response I got and the love and support this community offered me. It makes me feel on the top of the world when I think that as of now,109 of you chose to listen to the ramblings, thoughts and opinions of a teenage girl who’s on the verge of stepping into the world and discovering her foothold here. This fact makes me feel so thankful and blessed! Thank you, you amazingly wonderful people!

MY SPIRIT ANIMAL

I thought over this forever. I knew that it had to be some ocean-associated animal and decided to consult my friends about it. The unanimous answer was, to my surprise, a penguin. Then, I mulled it over and realised, they are right to a major extent. I like to sing and dance (like the penguins in Happy Feet!) and am chill(Pun intended.)just like them. They also dive deep into oceans, like I delve deep into my thoughts ( How very poetic.)and seem imaginative and dreamy, just like me. Penguins are also considered to be very emotional and intuitive, like I am. Also, on a-not-so-serious note, I realise that I just happen to own a lot of monochrome clothing.
